Alfred Nobel

Alfred Nobel was one of the fastest sons of Danehill Dancer, a sire with a remarkable record for upgrading his mares. It’s also worth noting that AHONOORA, another fast horse with that exact same quality, is the sire of his third dam, the Gr.1 winner Park Express.

Inbreeding to AHONOORA could prove to be very fruitful for Alfred Nobel, especially as daughters of INDIAN RIDGE have produced Group winners to Clodovil (Gr.1 winner Nahoodh), Danetime, Dansili and Rock of Gibraltar. There are also Group winners by sons of Danehill out of daughters of AHONOORA, DON’T FORGET ME and STATOBLEST. Choisir’s good daughter Meydan Princess has an AHONOORA mare as her second dam.

Mares by SADLER’S WELLS and his sons should also be at the top of the list for Alfred Nobel as he comes from the same family as New Approach, a European champion at 2 and 3 years by GALILEO. Danehill Dancer’s black-type performers out of SADLER’S WELLS mares stand in double figures and he has also sired Group winners from mares by four of Sadler’s Wells’ sons. Djumama who became the first 2yo Group winner for Aussie Rules is out of a mare by BARATHEA.

Danehill Dancer’s classic-placed son Westphalia is out of a mare by LYPHARD, who also sired the second dam of Gr.1 winner Mastercraftsman.

ALZAO sired the second dam of Jeremy. LINAMIX is the broodmare sire of the smart French filly Alnadana and DANCING BRAVE sired the second dams of three of Danehill Dancer’s Stakes winners. Choisir has Stakes winners out of mares by ALZAO and LINAMIX.

The NIJINSKY male line is likely to suit Alfred Nobel very well. Danehill Dancer sired Classic winner Speciosa, from a mare by SKY CLASSIC, and another Classic winner Again from a mare by KAHYASI. Other Group winners include Decado, out of a mare by GREEN DANCER, Good Mood and Wajir, both out of daughters of CAERLEON, and Carribean Sunset, out of a daughter of ROYAL ACADEMY.

The STORM BIRD line should also be given strong consideration for Alfred Nobel. BLUEBIRD is the broodmare sire of Choisir’s talented daughter Select. Choisir also has a Gr.2 winner in Australia out of a mare by CATRAIL, a son of STORM CAT. Danehill Dancer sired the Gr.1 winner Miss Beatrix from another CATRAIL mare. Daughters of GIANT’S CAUSEWAY are options from this line, as Danehill Dancer sired the high-class Planteur from one, while a mare by MUJADIL produced the very good 2-y-o King Torus to Oratorio.

Danehill Dancer has Gr.2 and Gr.3 winners inbred 3x3 to SHARPEN UP and others inbred 3x4 to him, so Alfred Nobel remains a good option for mares by KRIS, DIESIS, SHARPO, SELKIRK and COMMON GROUNDS.
He could also be an interesting match for mares by several MR PROSPECTOR line stallions, such as MACHIAVELLIAN, LYCIUS, WOODMAN and ZAFONIC and HECTOR PROTECTOR, the last two having already worked well with Choisir. Danehill Dancer has the Group 1 winners Mastercraftsman and Alexander Tango out of mares from this line.

Other branches of the NATIVE DANCER line which should be successful with Alfred Nobel include AFFIRMED, the broodmare sire of Dansili’s high-class daughter Price Tag, and BERING, broodmare sire of Harbinger, another Gr.1 winner by Dansili.

Choisir’s smart son Stimulation is out of a mare by THATCHING, who was also responsible for the dams of several of Danehill Dancer’s black-type performers. Another fast branch of the Hyperion male line - the SING SING branch - has supplied Danehill Dancer with the very smart sprinter Monsieur Bond (out of a SONG mare) and the high-class miler Indesatchel (out of a PETORIUS mare). One of Choisir’s Gr.2- placed sons, The Loan Express, is out of a mare by a grandson of SING SING, while another, Reckless Reward, has a second dam by MUMMY’S PET.

Fast Nasrullah blood would also be a good match. His top miler Where Or When comes from the BOLD RULER line, as does the Gr.3 winner Express Wish. SLEW O’GOLD is the broodmare sire of the good juvenile Chintz, while BLUSHING GROOM sired Memory’s second dam.

Danehill Dancer’s accomplished daughter Lillie Langtry is out of a DARSHAAN mare and his Group winners Rebel Soldier, Alexander Tango and Fast Company respectively have first or second dams by IRISH RIVER, RIVERMAN and MILL REEF. Oratorio’s Gr.1 winner Beethoven has a second dam by IRISH RIVER. Mozart’s Middle Park Stakes winner Amadeus Wolf is out of a mare by MARK OF ESTEEM.

Oratorio’s very smart son King Torus has a second dam by BLUSHING GROOM and the useful Blue Angel from a NASHWAN mare. Danehill’s Gr.1 winners included the Derby winner North Light, out of a RAINBOW QUEST mare, and Light Jig, out of a BLUSHING GROOM mare.

Danehill Dancer has sired Group winners from mares by Blushing Groom’s sons ARAZI (Jeremy), NASHWAN (Ice Queen) and RAHY (Contredanse and Callwood Dancer). This is therefore another line which should work well with Alfred Nobel, especially as WARNING, the sire of his grandam, is from the same family of RAINBOW QUEST.
ROBERTO sired the dam of Danehill’s Gr.1 winner Punctilious and mares by LEAR FAN have produced Group winners to Danehill Dancer.

Oratorio has a Listed winner out of a grand-daughter of RED RANSOM, by SRI PEKAN.
ALLEGED sired the second dam of Danehill Dancer’s 1,000 Guineas winner Speciosa and the third dam of his Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Mastercraftsman is by RIBOT, while Gr.2 winner Silent Times is inbred 4x4 to RIBOT’s son HIS MAJESTY.
